Everyday Life in the Ancient World-Ancient Egypt

This is a practice for me to write something about ancient history.
I will write some interesting vocabularies and knowledge or catagorize some
places or dynasty.

Ancient Egypt:Old kingdom,Middle kingdom and New kingdom

Egypt City:Thebes,Memphis and Giza

The magnificent temple:Karnak and Abu Simbel

Sightseer:someone,especially a tourist,who is visiting a famous or interesting place.

Programme:a series of actions which are designed to achieve something important.

Rameses II come to the throne more than sixty years ago.A renowned soldier,he is famous not only for his many military campaigns,but also for having fathered over 100 children!

The most important government offical is the vizier,who acts for the pharaoh.
Monument:a building,column,statue,etc.Built to remind people of a famous person or event.
Monumental:very important and having a great influence,especially as the result of years of work.
Hieroglyph:a picture or symbol of an object,representing a word,syllable or sound,especially as used in ancient Egyptian and other writing systems.
Obelisk:a tall pointed stone column with four sides,put up in memory of a person or an event.

Most major attractions are situated in the Nile Valley,a fertile area known as"Black Land".The desert,which lies to the east and west,is called"Red Land".and is largely uninhabited.

Impose:to introduce a new law,rule,tax,etc;to order that a rule,punishment,etc.

be used;to force sb/sth to have deal with sth that is difficult or unpleasant.

Fort:a building or buildings built in order to defend an area against attack.

Tutankhamun,the"boy king",came to the throne 70 years ago,aged ten.He died nine years later and his history is believed to be buried in the Valley of the kings,in a tomb full of spectacular treasures.

The Egyptian empire is currently at its height pharaoh Rameses II has fought many brave battles and ordered the construction of many monuments across Egypt.
